Our Vision (Al-Zahra)
Our namesake Sayyeda Fatima Zahra (p.b.u.h) exemplifies the excellence we pursue at Al-Zahra. The linguistic denotation of the Arabic word ‘Zahra’ means ‘to blossom’. In this vein, our young ladies are emotionally nurtured and intellectually nourished so they may flourish into positive role models, proactive citizens and capable leaders of tomorrow.
In line with our motto “Individually we endeavour; together we shine”, Al-Zahra School’s vision is to inspire a love of learning and to foster the inherent qualities and teachings of the Qur’an and the Ahlulbait.
Our girls emerge from Al-Zahra as inspired students; conscientious citizens of their wider communities; proactive citizens in service to the wider culture of a modern, multi-facetted Britain. To this end, our ladies shall endeavour to be the best version of themselves; to invest their time wisely. The School will recognise and respect each student’s unique place in Allah’s creation, and nurture our budding learners into becoming confident, tenacious and independent thinkers who aspire to become successful individuals in an ever changing world.
We have a vision to reach our goals of excellence indented into the fabric of our existence. Our vision constitutes four key elements:
Excellence in Education
“The most helpful thing in purifying the intellect is education” – Imam Ali (a.s.)
At Al-Zahra, we are keen to create an exciting learning environment for our students where we can cultivate and cherish their highest aspirations. We foster the tenets of the Ahlulbait (a.s.) according to which it is incumbent upon every Muslim to acquire knowledge and education. As such, we believe that every child has the potential to succeed within an intellectually stimulating and challenging setting. Every child is encouraged to manifest courage and enquiry in their quest for intellectual betterment. Being courageous can be monumental in the most modest of ways; having a go at a difficult question, offering an answer in a lesson, or nudging a peer in the right direction. Our girls learn and grow through the small, everyday steps they take that facilitate large, spirited leaps into their future.
Excellence in God-consciousness
“Through God-consciousness, actions become pure” – Imam Ali (a.s.)
Our primary aim is to centralise God-consciousness into the psyche of each pupil, so they may develop spiritually, ethically and theologically. Al-Zahra School strives to inculcate the love of God within a positive and caring environment, as we recognise each individual as a unique component of God’s creation. We inculcate the values taught by our role models, the Ahlulbait (a.s.), to foster God-consciousness in our students.
Excellence in serving communities
“The best of mankind is the one most useful to them” – Prophet Mohammed (p.b.u.h.)
Al-Zahra strives to nurture individuals who will live fruitfully in their society with conviction in themselves and empathy for others. The school has a sense of being part of a wider community, which nurtures well-rounded, compassionate individuals who are determined to mature into outstanding British citizens, beneficial to the social and economic growth of our country. Our students harbour a sense of responsibility and accountability towards themselves, their peers, families and the wider community.
Excellence in character
“The purest of all in lineage is the best of them in character” – Imam Ali (a.s.)
Al-Zahra School is focused on eliciting the noble and honourable characteristics of its pupils: honesty, integrity, compassion and mutual respect – these are all traits we endeavour to instill daily and tirelessly. Tenacity, self-respect and self-belief upholds our core, and inspires each student to become paragons of patience and perseverance.
